Hello, friend.
Welcome to this corner of the internet.
If you’ve found your way here, I believe it’s no accident.
My name is Lorne, and I’d love to share a little of my story with you—and more importantly, introduce you to the One who changed everything for me.
I grew up in the beautiful coastal town of Baie Verte on the northeast coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
My parents were faithful Christians who brought me to church every Sunday. At sixteen years old, I made a personal decision to follow Jesus and serve Him for the rest of my life. That decision shaped everything that followed.
Sharon and I married in our hometown, raised three sons and one daughter together, and I’ve now had the privilege of pastoring churches for more than thirty years.
I'm currently in retirement and I can say with the Apostle Paul, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ."
(1 Corinthians 11:1)
I’m not perfect, but I am a reliable witness to the transforming power of Jesus.
You’re probably wondering: Who exactly is Jesus, and why would I want to follow Him?
That’s a great question—and one worth exploring.
If you don’t have a Bible, I encourage you to get one. Borrow one from a library, order one online, or pick one up at a bookstore. The Bible isn’t just an old religious book; it’s the greatest story ever told about the most remarkable person who ever lived.
In the Gospel of John, chapter 1, verse 29, John the Baptist saw Jesus approaching and declared:
“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
That single sentence captures who Jesus is. He is the Lamb of God—the perfect, sinless sacrifice who came to remove every wrong we’ve ever done.
The Heavy Burden We All Carry
We’ve all sinned. We’ve all done things we regret:Have you ever lied?
Taken something that wasn’t yours?
Cheated? Hurt someone with angry words?
Committed adultery or other immoral acts?
These things weigh us down. Sin is the root of broken relationships, depression, anxiety, emptiness, and so much pain. It leaves us carrying burdens we were never meant to bear.
But here’s the good news: Jesus came to lift that burden completely. He offers a fresh start—as if your past had never happened.
Poet Louisa Tarkington once wrote:
“I wish that there were some wonderful place called the Land of Beginning Again, where all our mistakes and all our heartaches and all of our poor, selfish grief could be dropped, like a shabby old coat, at the door, and never put on again.”Jesus is that Land of Beginning Again.
Living Water and New Wine
The Bible is full of beautiful pictures of the new life Jesus offers. In John chapter 2, at a wedding in Cana, Jesus turned ordinary water into the finest wine. When the old wine ran out, He provided something far better.
He can do the same in your life—replacing emptiness with joy, regret with peace, and brokenness with purpose.
In John chapter 4, Jesus met a Samaritan woman at a well. She had searched for satisfaction in all the wrong places and come up empty.
Jesus offered her “living water”—a source of life that would never run dry.
He told her, “Whoever believes in me… rivers of living water will flow from within them” (John 7:38).
That living water is the Holy Spirit, who fills us with supernatural joy, peace, and satisfaction. The old ways—the old cisterns of sin and self-effort—always leave us thirsty again.
Jesus offers something new, lasting, and deeply fulfilling.
Will You Follow Him?
Today, Jesus is calling your name. He sees you. He knows everything you’ve done and everything you’ve been through, and He still loves you.
He wants to take away your sin, give you a brand-new start, and fill your life with His presence.
Will you respond to His call?
Will you become His follower—His disciple?
You can do that right now with a simple, honest prayer.
Something like this:
Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Lamb of God who takes away my sin. I’m tired of carrying this weight alone. Please forgive me, cleanse me, and give me Your living water—the Holy Spirit. I want to follow You from this day forward.
Thank You for a brand-new beginning. Amen.
If you just prayed that prayer, I’d love to hear from you.
Drop a note in the comments.
I'll be honored to walk alongside you as you begin this exciting new journey.
Jesus really is that amazing. One encounter with Him changes everything.
